Plywood is one of the commonly used materials for furniture. It is one of the three major panels of man-made board. It is a three-layer or multi-layer plate-like material made of wood sections that are spun into veneers or planked into thin wood, and then glued with adhesives. It is usually made of odd layers of veneers, and the fiber directions of adjacent layers of veneers are perpendicular to each other. It can be used as materials for aircraft, ships, trains, automobiles, buildings, packaging boxes, etc. it has the advantages of light weight, clear lines, insulation It has the advantages of high strength, not easy to deform, convenient construction, not suitable for warping, good transverse tensile resistance and improved wood utilization.

In recent years, with the rapid growth of China's economy, the plywood market demand has also been expanding. Raw materials: a large number of fast-growing and high-yield forest timber from the upper, north, East China and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River poured into the market, as well as the continuous supplement of foreign high-quality broad-leaved timber, providing rich raw materials for the continuous development of China's plywood industry; In terms of production cost, China has sufficient human resources, which leads to the advantage of cost accounting in developing plywood industry in China compared with other plywood producing countries; In terms of competitiveness, many plywood enterprises began to pay attention to innovation and R & D and environmental protection construction, which greatly improved the overall quality of plywood and became more and more competitive in the international market. So far, China has not only become a major plywood exporter, but also the world's largest plywood producer.

Distribution of main plywood producing areas in China

In 2015, China's plywood output was 165million cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%, accounting for 58% of the total wood-based panel output, with an output value of about 320billion yuan. Plywood industry is mainly concentrated in East China, accounting for 62.9% and South China for 19.1%; The output of Jiangsu, Shandong and Guangxi provinces accounts for 60% of the country. There are tens of thousands of plywood enterprises in China, and the concentration is very low, with less than 0.3% of large and enterprise groups. However, the industry is constantly improving. First, more and more enterprises use formaldehyde free glue. Second, enterprises have increased research and development efforts and adjusted product structure. Third, small enterprises have been gradually shut down.

Analysis of plywood import and export countries

Plywood is mainly exported from the United States, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and South Korea, accounting for nearly 50%. Plywood is mainly imported from Malaysia, Russia, Indonesia and Finland, accounting for 82% of the total imports.

In 2016, the export of plywood was 11.173 million cubic meters, an increase of 3.8%, amounting to US $5.275 billion, a decrease of -3.9%. Jiangsu and Shandong account for 79% of China's total plywood exports. The export is mainly low-grade plywood, and the profit is very low. In 2016, the imported plywood was 196000 cubic meters, an increase of 17.4%, and the amount was 139million US dollars, an increase of 14.9%.

China's plywood is developing rapidly and the overall situation is improving. However, it still encounters anti-dumping complaints from the European Union, the United States and some other importing countries, and the environmental protection will continue to increase in 2017. Therefore, China's plywood enterprises and industry organizations must strengthen communication with importers, strengthen enterprise self-discipline, standardize export operation order, and strengthen environmental protection production. 2017 is also a key year for the continuous deepening of the "the Belt and Road" policy and the continuous expansion of the infrastructure construction scale of countries along the line, which not only stimulated the demand for plywood, but also highlighted the development potential of China's plywood market. It is undoubtedly a great development opportunity for China's plywood industry.
